I am a faculty in the Environmental Studies program at Binghamton University. Before joining Binghamton, I worked as a postdoctoral associate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University, and a visiting instructor in Sustainable Engineering at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. I have also serviced as an expert witness for drinking water quality litigation. Since receiving my Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, I have researched chemical contamination and engineered new remediation strategies for wastewater in both academic and private sector settings.
Tasneem Tawalbeh
Ph.D. student

I am a Ph.D. student in the Systems Science and Industrial Engineering department advised by Dr. Wang. My research interests include energy systems, water treatment, and solid waste management, specifically applying data science and machine learning models in environmental research projects.
My hobbies include hiking, running, working out, and horse riding.
Rachel Rudacille
REU Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am an undergraduate student from Grinnell College majoring in physics with a concentration in environmental studies. I am interested in applying physics to climate change, especially through renewable technologies. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing the oboe, and spending time with my dog.
Sam Gold
Master Student
New Undergraduate Researchers Award

I am a senior majoring in environmental science with a focus in chemistry. I am also planning to get a masters degree in systems science and industrial engineering. My hobbies include reading, hiking and cooking.
Mary Campbell
Ph.D. student at UW-Madison
I am a wildlife ecologist currently pursuing a PhD at UW-Madison. My interests include hiking, water polo, and reading. I work with Dr Wang to understand the scope of perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) contamination and identify potential remediation strategies.
Masami Kanyuk
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am pursuing a BS in Environmental Science with a minor in Sociology. I have been studying how PFASs are released into and interact with the environment and ecosystem. More broadly I am interested in approaching environmental problems from an interdisciplinary perspective, and understanding their sociopolitical roots. My hobbies include painting and drawing, hiking, and local activism.
Clara Brenton
Undergraduate Research Assistant

I am an undergraduate studying paper engineering at SUNY ESF (Environmental Science and Forestry). I am interested in chemistry and mathematics, along with the development of sustainable products. During my free time, I enjoy playing action video games, reading sci-fi books, traveling, and spending time with my cats.
Hayley Jones
Environmental Studies Community Award
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am from The Bronx, New York. I am currently a senior at Binghamton studying environmental science with a concentration in ecosystems. I am specifically interested in the restoration of water ecosystems in urban areas, as well as remediation methods of heavy metal in water in urban cities.
Erica Albert
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Originally from Seaford, New York, Erica is a junior at Binghamton University studying Environmental Policy and Law with a minor in Global Studies. She is especially interested in water quality and looks forward to continuing her work in PFAS and water quality research.
Dhamar Blanco
Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Award
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am working with Dr. Wang in the summer 2022 as a Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) intern at Binghamton University. I have been studying microbes and PFAS degradation in the environment.
Jason Pedone
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am currently a student at Binghamton University majoring in environmental chemistry. My family has owned several environmental business which I grew up around, and this exposure led me to be extremely interested in the environment surrounding me. In my free time I like going to the gym and working on my cars.
Sebica Katel
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am currently pursuing a BS in Biochemistry with a double minor in Environmental Studies and Sociocultural Anthropology. My research interests lie in the restoration of the environment through pollution control and environmental remediation. Particularly, I am focused on the removal of hazardous pollutants and contaminants via bioremediation. I am also interested in the application of nanomaterials as a means for water treatment. My hobbies include painting, hiking, and reading.
Grace Longendyke
Environmental Studies Research Excellence Award
Undergraduate Research Assistant
I am a senior Environmental Studies major. I am interested in researching ecology and human impacts on the environment. In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, and hiking.
